An elderly woman has lost her life after being attacked by bees at Achiase, a community near Asuofua in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District of the Ashanti Region.
The victim has been identified as 81-year-old Nana Afia Achiaa.
According to information gathered by Odomankomaonline, the incident occurred on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, between 5:30 pm and 6:00 pm.
A resident told Odomankomaonline that the deceased was sitting inside the Achiase palace and later stepped outside to interact with people on the street when she was suddenly invaded by a swarm of bees.
The source disclosed that the bees have been living in the community for nearly a year and have been a constant nuisance to residents.
Eyewitnesses said no one could immediately come to her aid due to the intensity of the attack. Residents later managed to disperse the bees with insecticide spray and rushed her to a nearby health facility, where she was pronounced dead.
The body has since been deposited, while residents are calling for the removal of the beehive to prevent further attacks.
